The book of our 1st Public Administration Workshop held on November 25, 2024 has been published. Our book provides information for understanding and analyzing the transformations experienced at different levels of the social structure. On the one hand, the principle of merit is considered as the cornerstone of a just and effective administration in the context of public administration; on the other hand, it examines how this principle is hollowed out by political influence, along with the problems it causes in many areas from appointment and promotion processes to service quality. Structural deterioration caused by ignoring merit leads to damage not only to institutions but also to the citizen-state relationship. Other thematic axes of the book are as follows. The first is to analyze the impact of artificial intelligence on public administration. The other is to evaluate the concepts of city and space through the prism of post-modern thought. Smart cities, global cities, time-space compression, digitalized lives, artificial intelligence… This book, which aims to contribute to academic literature, is not limited to management sciences or urban studies only; It also appeals to those seeking intellectual depth in a wide range of fields, including political science, sociology, and cultural studies. We thank all the authors, resource providers, and researchers who contributed to the preparation of this book, and wish readers a thought-provoking, critical, and inspiring reading experience.
