The Institutional Accreditation Program (IAP) is an external evaluation method that enables the assessment of quality assurance, education and training, research and development, social contribution, and governance system processes of higher education institutions within the framework of the “plan–do–check–act” (PDCA) cycle. The IAP is conducted by evaluation panels formed by the Council of Higher Education Quality of Türkiye (THEQC/YÖKAK) in accordance with the Institutional External Evaluation and Accreditation Criteria and the Institutional External Evaluation and Accreditation Guide. Each year, the higher education institutions to be included in the IAP are determined by YÖKAK, and evaluation panels are formed in line with the institutional structures of the selected institutions. These evaluation panels carry out two visits to the relevant higher education institutions (a preliminary visit and a site visit). As a result of these visits, Institutional Accreditation Reports (IAR) are prepared by the evaluation panels, and accreditation decisions are made by YÖKAK based on these reports. Within the scope of the IAP, YÖKAK issues the following decisions: Full accreditation (for a period of five years) Conditional accreditation (for a period of two years) Denial of accreditation Program Accreditation refers to the evaluation and external quality assurance process carried out by an accreditation agency to determine whether a higher education program meets predefined academic and field-specific standards in a particular discipline. In Türkiye, the authorization and recognition of accreditation agencies fall under the responsibility of the Council of Higher Education Quality (YÖKAK). The authorization of national accreditation agencies and the recognition of international accreditation agencies are conducted within the framework of principles and criteria determined by YÖKAK. Since 2016, information on programs accredited by accreditation agencies authorized or recognized by YÖKAK has been included in the Higher Education Programs and Quotas Guide of the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) (formerly the ÖSYS Higher Education Programs and Quotas Guide). Our department has been making rapid progress in the accreditation process that it initiated in 2024. Within the scope of the accreditation process, our department conducts its activities in line with six main objectives. These objectives are as follows: Service Orientation It aims to meet and enhance the current needs and expectations of the Public Administration undergraduate program and its students. Continuous Learning Continuous learning is a prerequisite for continuous improvement. In this regard, our department continues its activities at an accelerated pace. Value Creation Through accreditation, services that create added value for stakeholders are provided. The added value of these services is intended to be monitored directly through feedback mechanisms. In this way, our department continues its efforts to generate benefits at the local, national, and international levels. Developing Partnerships Maximizing the value delivered and increasing success depend on the development of collaborations. Ethical Conduct Our department has adopted a high-level ethical approach, acting responsibly toward its stakeholders and remaining transparent and accountable. Transparency and Accountability The Public Administration undergraduate program bears the responsibility of informing stakeholders and the public about its fields of activity and being accountable for its actions.
